ECHO Newspaper, an intercampus newspaper based in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA has got its 11th editorial board. They are: Richard Adura-Ilesanmi Editor-in-Chief, Joseph Akinkuotu Associate Editor, Gbemi Tayo Leezah Feature editor, Kayode Adegunle production manager, Fayemiro Olawale sports editor, Mopelola Abdulrahamon sales and marketing manageress, Marcus Amudipe art editor, Adekunle Ewaoyenikan political editor, Olubunmi Lawal entertainment editor. Others are Samuel Oluremi photo editor, Damilare Adeyemi Desk editor and David Abiola directtor of special duties. Speaking at the hand-over ceremony held at the student union building, the staff adviser of the newspaper, Mr Ishola Lamidi remarked that ECHO newspaper could compete with any newspaper in the country in terms of design, quality of contents and objective reportage of events on campus. Lamidi, who is a lecturer in the department of Mass Communication of the university submitted that: "ECHO newspaper is indeed the tribune of our own side of the society. They have kept us alive.you will agree with me that ECHO can rival the ones out there, and I have compared the quality of the page planning, I want to submit that the newspaper can do better than some of the ones we have in the country". He therefore challenged the new editorial board to sustain the tempo. Giving account of stewardship, the outgoing editor-in-chief, Imoleayo Oyedeyi commended his editorial board member for their support during his tenure. Imoleayo said despite the financial constraints, he was able to produce the newspaper three times during the session, a development which he claimed surpassed the achievement of some of his predecessors. "I also introduced ECHO weekly bulletin which has been keeping students abreast of happenings on campus", he said. Oyedeyi attributed his success to the commitment and dedication of his editorial team and advised members of the new board to lend maximum support to the editor for the uplift of the organisation. In a remark, a two-time editor of the newspaper, Seyi Oluwalade congratulated the new editorial board and urged them to brace up for the task of re-engineering ECHO from its present status. In his acceptance speech, the new editor-in-chief, Richard Adura-Ilesanmi described his appointment as a priviledge and promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the administration of the media organisation. Adura-Ilesanmi who was the Associate/News Editor prior to his elevation call on his team to see their appointment as a call to real service rather than an avenue to ganner popularity for themselves on campus. Certificate of excellence were presented to the outgoing editorial members who are mostly graduating students as well as some staff and student leaders who have distingushed themselves in their endeavours. The ceremony was attended by president, Student Union Government, Julius Adeniyi, speaker, Student Representative Council, Kowe Odunayo, campus pen pushers led by the president of the Nigerian Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) AAUA chapter and teaming readers of the newspaper.
