Operatives of the Joint Military Task Force in Rivers State have rescued Madam Gloria Tolofari, the kidnapped mother of Rivers State Commissioner for Transport, George Tolofari.
Madam Tolofari was abducted by gunmen two months ago at her residence on Victoria Street in Port Harcourt Town and taken to Bayelsa State.
Public Relations Officer, 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Major Michael Etete, said in a statement on Wednesday that Mrs. Gloria Tolofari was rescued at Azuzuama in Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa State.
Etete added that the rescue was made possible through the joint efforts of the Department of State Security and the Anti-kidnapping unit of the 2 Brigade.
““The 2 Brigade Anti-kidnap Unit, Port Harcourt, in a joint operation with the Department of State Service has rescued the kidnapped mother of the Rivers State Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Gloria Tolofari.
“The victim, who was kidnapped about two months ago, was rescued on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, following a raid on Azuzuama in Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State,” Etete said.
He, however, warned criminal elements to stop kidnapping, armed robbery and other vices or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
