A telecommunication giant, Etisalat Nigeria has donated health equipment worth millions of naira to the Ondo state government to strengthen its healthcare system.
The items include 250 units of mother and newborn delivery kits, five units of ECG systems, five units of laptops equipped with interpretative software for ECG system and 18 units of tablets for conducive field work and research of infant mortality.
Donating the items on behalf of the telecom company on Wednesday in Akure, the state capital, its Director of Regulatory and Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr Ikenna Ikeme said health is one of the company's core CSR platforms, hence its resolve to seek constant promotion of health programmes in its host communities.
He explained that the choice of Ondo state for the items was premised on the tremendous achievements of the Mimiko-led administration in primary healthcare development as well as its effective implementation of a sustainable primary healthcare for all through resource mobilization, collaboration and functional infrastructure.
Also speaking, the Territory Manager, south west ii of the company, Oluwaseun Popoola said the remarkable record of the state government in the health sector has continued to endeared the government into the heart of Etisalat Nigeria.
Goodwill message from the Director of Operations, Nigeria Intrat Clonal Solutions, Abiola Osuniyi said Ondo state has always been a worthy partner.
The Executive Secretary of the state Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr Olugbenga Osunmakinwa and the Permanent Secretary in the state ministry of health, Dr Taye Oni praised Etisalat for the gesture.
Responding, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju who commended Etisalat for the donation explained that the equipment would further assist government to provide qualitative health services to the people.
Adeyanju who was represented by the chairman of the state Hospitals Management Board, Dr Niran Okunrinboye said government has opened its doors to individuals, groups and corporate organisations who may wish to identify with it in improving the health base of residents.
