Students under the aegis of Eyitayo Jegede Students Movement have pledged their support for the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo state, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN.
The students who came from various higher institutions across the country made the pledge on Wednesday at the Cocoa conference hall , Governor’s office, Akure.
Speaking on their behalf, the president, National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), Charlse Iwakun explained that their resolve to align with Mr Jegede was not only informed by his cerebral capacity to consolidate on what he called the students friendly programmes of the Mimiko-led administration but also in their belief of his ability to raise the economic profile of the state.
Iwakun therefore urged Mr Jegede to pay more attention to vocational education and students empowerment so that they can fully realise their God-given potentials.
He equally called for proper orientation of the state youth population on numerous success tips, adding that he should consider appointing youths below the age of 32 to positions of authority if elected.
Other speakers on the occasion said they were entrusting their future to Mr jegede who they said would safeguard it jealously.
In a remark, the Onodo State Commissioner for Youth development and Sports, Dayo Awude urged the youths to take their destinies into their hands by pitching their tents with Jegede who he described as a man of integrity, and with track record of achievements.
Responding, the PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede thanked the students for believing in his vision. He therefore promised to run an all inclusive government that will create the enabling environment for them to utilize their potential and become employers of labour.
