The Ondo State Agency for road Maintenance and Construction, OSARMCO, is carrying out massive rehabilitation and maintenance of roads in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local government area in the southern senatorial district of the state.
This exercise is in continuation of the operation zero tolerance for potholes designed to make all township roads in the state motorable and increase the life span of vehicles plying the roads.
The first port of call was Ikoya, Broad street which is the major arterial road in the town. The road has failed in portions which users and residents said has become a serious concern to them.
It is one of the 15 roads listed for maintenance in okitipupa metropolis.
Some residents, traders and motorists who narrated their ugly experiences during the dark days of the road commended the Mimiko-led administration for coming to their rescue.
They expressed optimism that the development would further improve the socio-economic activities of the town and give them motoring comfort.
Mr Ayodele Ajiboye is the OSARMCO’S supervisor in-charge of Okitipupa. He said his team were intensifying effort to make sure that all roads earmarked for rehabilitation in the area are put to shape.
The chairman of the agency, Engineer kehinde Osikoya remarked that the present administration in the state has a broad plan for the southern senatorial district in terms of road maintenance as well as re-construction of some dilapidated bridges in the zone.
He revealed that after the completion of the identified roads within the town, his men would advance to other neighbourhoods.
Similar maintenance of roads and re-construction of bridges are going on simultaneously across the state.
