August 28, 2016 - Political parties to commence campaigns
August 18 and September 19, 2016 - Political parties participating in the election are also expected to conduct their primaries and resolve disputes arising from the primaries.
September 29, 2016 - Last day for the submission of forms CF001 and CF002 at the INEC Headquarters.
September 29, 2016 - Publication of personal particulars of candidates (CF001)
October 19, 2016 - Last day for withdrawal by candidate(s) or replacement of withdrawn candidate(s) by political parties
October 27, 2016 - Publication of the official register of voters for the election
November 12, 2016 - Publication of the notice of election will take place
November 19, 2016 - Submission of names of party agents for the election to the Electoral officer of the local government areas or area councils
November 24, 2016 - End campaigns
November 26, 2016 - Election Day
Run-off election to the office of governor (if any) will hold within seven days after the pronouncement of the result of the election.
ACCORDING to INEC, by virtue of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), elections into the governorship office shall hold not earlier than 150 days and not later than 30 days before the expiration of the term office of the last holder. THE tenure of the incumbent governor of the state will expire February 23, 2017, and in pursuant to the provisions of section 25(7) and (8) of the 1999 constitution, the earliest date for the election into the office shall be September 26, 2016, and the latest date January 24, 2017.
