World Polio Day: We'll partner stakeholders to sustain polio-free record in Ondo-Mimiko

The Governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko on Monday said that his administration would continue to partner relevant stakeholders in order to sustain the state's polio-free record.

Dr Mimiko made the commitment during an awareness rally to mark the 2016 World Polio Day organised by the Rotary club in Akure, the state capital

Nigeria' s triumph over polio had a temporary set back when new cases were discovered in borno no thanks to the ongoing war against insurgency which prompted stakeholders to restratgise   their eforts.

For the rotary club international which has made the fight against polio one of its cardinal objectives,  this year's world polio day is another avenue to create more awareness on how to completely eradicate the childhood killer disease 

The awareness rally took the team led the Governor Mimiko represented by health Commissioner Dr dayo adeyanju top government functionaries in the health sector and rotary club members who trekkd from Alagbaka through Oba Adesina road climaxing at the Deji of Akure Palace.
    
Addressing the Deji and his high Chiefs,  the leader of the rotary club team,  Dayo omotoyinbo said the club is committed to the complete eradication of polio across the globe and thanked the state government for its support and other health intervention.

Mr omototoyinbo sought the support of the Deji in sensitising the people on the need for regular vaccination of children.

Governor Mimiko thanked the rotary club for its support for all government programmes and promised to reciprocate this partnership.

He said government has already put in place necessary framework to guarantee continuity of all the programmes to better the lives the people.
   
The Deji of Akure Oba aladetoyinbo aladelusi commended the rotary club for for doing what he noted will complement efforts of the state government in ensuring the people live in good health at all times.
