Non-Teaching Staff Unions protesting to demand the removal of their VC last week
The governing council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, has ban any form of protest , Procession or any action that could trigger the breakdown of law and order in the institution.
This was contained in a release signed by the University Regustrar and Secretary to the Council, Dr Modupe Ajayi and made available to Richievoice Nigeria Blog.
The decision followed the protest embarked upon since last week by the Non-Teaching Staff Unions under the aegis of Joint Action Congress, JAC to demand the removal of the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola and the school bursar, Mr Emmanuel Oresegun over an alleged fraud.
Rising from its meeting held on the 14 and 15th of October, 2016, the Council said it has taken note of all the issues raised by the unions maintainimg that the appropriate organs of government which the issues have been refered to should continue to handle them in accordance with the laws of the land.
The council therefore urged the union leaders to wait for the outcome of the investigation being carried out by the appropriate government agencies handling the allegations of fraud against the vice chancellor and the bursar instead of distrupting the peace of the university.
"Council also directs that all of the Non-Teaching Staff Unions should resume at their duty posts immediately and go about their duties and activities without let or hindrance", the state reads in part.
While warning the unions against flouting the order, the council said appropriate security agencies have been alerted with a promise to provide adequate security of lives and property within the university and its environs
