Akeredolu
A socio-political group in Ondo State, the Ondo State Movement for Democratic Dividends, has advised the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rotimi Akeredolu SAN to stop dragging the reputable law profession into disrepute through his unguarded tirades.
The group, in a statement issued in Akure, on Monday, said Akeredolu's unwarranted dabbling into the internal affairs of the PDP further confirms that his greatest fear is the Jegede's candidature and the "Eyilafe" phenomenon that has continued to gain momentum across the state, and no doubt has is giving him and his crisis-ridden APC sleepless nights.
"Rather than focus on how to save himself on the impending humiliation he will suffer at the polls, Akeredolu is seeking unnecessary popularity through unguided vituperation against a God ordained project.
His reckless statement sparks of sheer embarrassment
The statement said the embattled APC candidate's dream of having a non-starter and political neophyte in the person of Jimoh Ibrahim as his running mate of the PDP can never materialise as the people have already decided on Jegede as their choice.
"we have never been in doubt of Akeredolu's fears about Eyitayo's candidature which he knows is like a moving locomotive train that will crush all opposition because it is a God ordained project with the people already taking ownership. Akeredolu should rather face the reality of his impending second humiliation at the polls after conspiring with aggrieved northern forces to force himself on his party through 'padded' process which has become the hallmark of the APC."
"We need to also remind him that the people of Ondo State have rejected him and his party which has plunged the people and the entire nation into untold hardship and suffering in the last 18months"
The statement emphasized that for the Purpose of records, Jegede remains the valid and lawful governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ondo November election having no litigation challenging his election.
"Jegede has not been sued by anybody, he was not a party to any suit and for this reason he remains the lawful and valid candidate of the People's Democratic Party in the governorship election coming up in November.
The statement added that it is equally on record that the APC in Ondo state is yet to recover from its post-primaries crisis which has seen the first runner up heading for court to truncate Akeredolu's mandate, the second runner up now in another party while the third runner up has adopted the 'Sidon Look' approach.
"Akeredolu should rather be pre-occupied with his post primaries headache and the daily violence his party is perpetrating across the state as a result of his crooked emergence instead of day-dreaming to face Jimoh ibrahim in the November election. Those with him are liliputians, praise-singers and political jobbers who have refused to tell him the truth about his candidature that is already 'Dead-on-Arrival'. With his election being already challenged as a result of the 'padded process', he can be sure he would soon be left in the cold while his 'Abuja and Kaduna' Mafias and Godfathers will in no time ditch him for political exigencies and re-alignment in his troubled and crisis ridden APC." The group said.
