Clement Faboyede, Ondo PDP Factional chairman
The Ondo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has said that the judgement of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja was an attempt to subvert justice and the will of the people of Ondo state.
The state chairman of the party, Chief Clement Faboyede at a press conference in Akure said the party has discovered that the suit upon which justice Abang delivered his judgement has no bearing with Ondo 2016 governorship election.
He added that preliminary investigation by the PDP legal team has shown that Justice Abang was only attemting to cover up his fundamental errors in his earlier judgement on the 29th of June 2016.
According to him, "the originating summon filed on June 7th 2016 by nine claimants only sought to determine the tenure and membership of the state executive committee of PDP in the south west zone and directions in respect of party primaries for the 2019 general election which Justice Abang so ruled.
The second suit according to Faboyede was a contempt proceedings against INEC which the presiding judge directed INEC to receive the nomination paper of Jimoh Ibrahim against numerous Supreme Court decisions that it is only the national executive of a political party that has the right to do so.
He added: "After careful study of the order, Justice Abang made no pronouncement in respect of Mr Eyitayo Jegede as the PDP governorship candidate neither did he make reference to the list already publishes by INEC on the 29th of September 2016.
Chief Faboyede said the reason for this was simply bexause Mr Jegede was not a party to any of the processes files by the claimants.
He vowed that the party would resist any move by Justice Abang to re-write or cover up his earlier judgement in error through illegal means.
Describing the rulling as a mere distraction, Faboyede therefore appealed to the teaming supporters of Mr Jegede ti remain resolute as his campaign organisation will soon swing into full action to reel out what he has for the good of Ondo state.
