World Bank to increase support for secondary health facilities in Ondo state


The World Bank has promised to scale up its collaboration with the Ondo state government by strengthening it's support for general hospitals across the state.   

‎Head of the world bank team in Nigeria, Dr Oluwole Odutolu gave the commendation during a meeting with the Chief Medical Directors, Primary Health Care Coordinators and Hospital Management Board team in Akure.      
                     
‎The meeting was to review  progress made on collaboration of the world bank with the state government on the Nigeria States Health Investment Project [NsHIP].  

 The meeting was organised by the Nigeria state Health Investment Project and the state government based on joint mission visit of World Bank,  Result Based Financing and Federal government agencies teams to health facilities in the state.   
      
After a presentation had been done on findings from their visit, the world Bank team leader‎, dr Odutolu who thanked governor  Olusegun Mimiko for supporting the project  towards actualisation of set goals posited that his government has changed the history of the state from being the worst to the best in Nigeria on health care delivery .               

He said the world Bank and the NsHip project would  continue to support the state based on its encouraging performance.

The state commissioner for health Dr Dayo Adeyanju said he was excited because of the positive remarks of the team especially on the transformation of primary health care in the state.      
   
 Adeyanju explained that the reason for rewarding those who have done well  is to encourage them and others to do more . 
The Executive Secretary, Ondo State primary health care development board, Dr Olugbenga Osunmakinwa also thanked the state government for its support towards the project.                                     

For the award presentation, state speciialist hospital ondo got the  best performing general hospital, on Performance Based Financing, Ese Odo and Akoko North west as  best performing local governments at the primary health care level.
