Makarfi led PDP Calls for Postponement of Ondo Governorship Election



The special panel of the appeal court in Abuja  sitting on the Ondo Peoples Democratic Party Governorship candidacy tussle for this month's election has adjourned its judgement until a suit at the Supreme Court challenging it's jurisdiction is determined.

Head of the three man panel, Justice Ibrahim Salauwa who announced this after the court resumed to give judgement in the appeal by  eyitayo Jegede versus biyi poroye and others case as well as that of the Ahmed Markarfi and Ben Obi versus Biyi Poroye and others.

Both Jegede and Ahmed Markarfi are challenging Justice Okon abang federal high court ruling of Oct 14 and judgement of June 29 which order the substitution of Jegede's name as well as gave recognition to Biyi Poroye and others as Ondo state PDP executives.

Salauwa said a motion was filed at the supreme court 7;30 pm yesterday by Biyi Poroye and others challenging the jurisdiction of the panel and against further proceedings as well as joined them in the suit.

He said his panel was set up for a rescue mission after the former panel withdrew after facing several  mischievous processes like they are facing now.

 Justice Salauwa however adjourned proceedings until the supreme court decides Wheather they are right or not to continue with the case as further proceedings for now will be in a breach of hirearchy of judicial adjudication in Nigeria. 

Meanwhile counsel to Eyitayo Jegede, Dayo Akinlaja San said despite the temporary set back all hope is not lost.

Akinlaja told orange FM that they will be at the supreme court on Tuesday to trash out the case.

Also speaking, national publicity secretary of the PDP, Dayo Adeyeye called for a postponement of the election. 

He condemned what he called undue interference in the judiciary.
