Another round of crisis is looming in the Ondo State House of Assembly as a faction is allegedly planning to forcefully reopen the Assembly complex tomorrow (Monday).

The Assembly complex was locked two weeks ago by the police following the clash between the two factions of lawmakers in the Assembly.

However, TRACE has just gathered that the group of 13 lawmakers loyal to the APC is plotting to gain entrance to the Complex and conduct a sitting on Monday.

The group which carried out an impeachment exercise against the leadership of the Speaker, Hon. Jumoke Akindele, has Hon. Malachi Coker as Speaker.

The Coker group and the Akindele group both have 13 members on each side, making it difficult for either group to gain majority of members.

With the inauguration of Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC as governor on Friday, the Coker group had been energised and has decided to carry out activities in the Assembly in the absence of members of the other group.

A member of the Akindele group who spoke with TRACE Sunday evening, said any attempt to reopen the Assembly without the current crisis in the House being resolved would lead to a clash.

He said nobody can forcefully reopen the Assembly complex with thugs.

All efforts to get the reaction of the other group proved abortive as at this time as the factional Speaker, Malachi Coker has yet to respond.
