The seven man committee set up by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to look into the issue of payment of salary arrears of the public servants has commenced meeting.
Recall that the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu , during his first meeting with public servants in the state promised to make payment of workers salary a priority.
The committee which is headed by the Deputy Governor, Arakunrin Alfred Agboola Ajayi commenced meeting this morning in the office of the Deputy Governor. Other members of the committee includes the state Head of Service, Toyin Akinkuotu, Mrs F. B. Ogundipe - P.S. Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy, The Accountant General of the state, Mr Laolu Akindolire and the state Auditor General, Mr S. O. Adegoke. State NLC chairperson, Bosede Daramola and Mr Bode Ajigbolamu, Director, Central Pay Office are members.
The Deputy Governor and Chairman of the committee, Arakunrin Alfred Agboola Ajayi in his opening speech rolled out the terms of reference of the committee as follows :
1. To calculate total amount of arrears of salaries in state between August 2016 - January 2017;
2. To establish the causes of the unpaid salaries
3.To recommend to Government ways and means of effecting payment of all arrears of unpaid salaries in the state and suggest ways of ensuring payment of workers' salaries as and when due.
The committee is expected to submit its report within two weeks of commencement this assignment.
