Channels television state house correspondent, Chukwuma Onuekwusi has reportedly passed on.
Onuekwusi who joined Channels television in 1998, died today, May 23 after a brief illness.
Before being seconded to cover the Presidential villa, the deceased covered a variety of stories, including reporting extensively on the elections that brought the former President Obasanjo and the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to power. He also reported President Jonathan’s election victory.
Onuekwusi has a diploma in Mass Communication (Radio/TV Broadcasting) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and has attended journalism courses in Nigeria and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
He was prolific in news casting and also presented programmes like Politics Today on Channels television.
His reporting style and experience got him a nominee for the Nigeria Media Merit Awards in 2001 as well as coverage of the Abia state bureau for two years.
Before joining Channels in 1998, Onuekwusi worked at Imo Broadcasting Corporation ,Owerri, Southeast Nigeria.
Onuekwusi is survived by wife and Children.
