Ondo govt gives roadside auto dealers ultimatum to vacate

The Ondo State government has given roadside auto dealers in the state a two-week ultimatum to vacate or risk sanctioned.

The commissioner for Urban and Regional Planning, Prince Sola Amodeni who announced this at a meeting with auto dealers held in Akure restated government commitment to restore order and improve on human settlement with a  view to promoting a planned society devoid of lawlessness and rot.

While addressing the meeting, Prince Amodeni stated that  indiscriminate  sales of vehicles by the road side.,within the streets, in petrol stations, mechanical workshops and all unapproved places has greatly marred the intention of the government of making Akure a model of a planned state capital.

In order to check the ugly trend, the Commissioner indicated the readiness of the ministry to visit any contravention of the Physical Planning  and Urban  Renewal Policies with the full weight of the law and to also enforce the movement  of all auto dealers in Akure to the Ultra-Modern Auto Mart along Akure-Ilesha Express Way, built primarily  for sale of vehicles.

All motor dealers who are illegally plying their trade in unauthorized places in the city are now given two weeks deadline to vacate such places and move their vehicles  to Akure  Auto-Mart starting  from 5th September, 2018.

At the expiration of the two weeks deadline on 18th September, 2018, any vehicle displayed by the road side, within the streets, in front of residential and commercial buildings, within the premises of petrol stations, in mechanic workshops and other unauthorized places will be impounded and the dealers charged to court.

All motor  dealers are to comply with this directive in their own interest.
