An author and seasoned motivational speaker, Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo has urged parents to upgrade and sharpen their parenting skills to be able to parent the 21st century children and teenagers.
This she said while speaking as a guest speaker at a mentorship program organised by a non- governmental organisation- ASOR Culture International Initiative, tagged: transformation 2.0: calibrate from here to there, held in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Adejumo also hinted that the old correctional method adopted by some parents are gone into extinction, urging parents to device creative means of instilling discipline in their wards, just as she harped on effective communication by parents to their children.
The guest speaker also called on father's to be directly involved in the upbringing of their child, against the believe that fathers are only meant to provide for the family.
Other panelists at the event like, Dr Wale Jegede, Dr Samuel Ekundayo, Dr Yetunde Olugbuji, Michael C Joshua and Oluwaremi Bali Joel and Mr.. Olayota Aribo charged parents to join hands with the government in restoring lost values into their children.
The Chief Executive Officer of ASOR Culture International Initiative, Mrs Temitope Momoh said the aim of the event is to recalibrate perspectives, beliefs, and actions of the youths, “align them with our true purpose and unlocking the boundless potential within each and every one of us.”
She however called for joint effort in flushing out unhealthy behaviour among the teenagers to achieve a bright future.
The event featured the " who is who" in Ondo state, other non governmental organizations, religious leaders, professional and over 1,000 teenagers and youth.
