No Boko Haram member arrested in Ondo state-- Govt

The Ondo state government as described as untrue, a report that suspected Boko Haram members were arrested in the state.

In a chat with newsmen in Akure, the State's Commissioner for Information, Hon Kayode Akinmade said the  threat of  Boko Haram insurgents in the state  as reported by a national newspaper is a ploy by unscrupulous elements to create tension and atmosphere of fear among the people, insisting the state remain the safest and most peaceful in the country.

He said there is no record of  any of such  arrest as reported with the police and the military adding that security meeting which the report was hinged on was a routine monthly security meeting which the Governor had since ordered must hold between the  Chairmen of local councils and  heads of security agencies in their locality..

Akinmade  mentioned that there are series of such security meetings that hold regularly at different levels on the governor's instruction to ensure the maintenance of peace being experienced in the state.

"It is misleading and unfortunate that some people will allude the reason for a regular meeting on security matters in the state to the imaginary influx of  Boko Haram members.

"The meeting is not new as it has been holding before now and it will continue to hold  because it has proved useful in the course of ensuring adequate security in the state."

Insisting that there is no threat to the peace of the state, he  said adequate measures are being taken to ensure security of lives and properties in the state , adding that there is round the clock screening at every entry point to the state by joint security patrols.

While urging the people to go about their normal business without fear, he assured that  it has what it takes to maintain the most peaceful status of the state as the various arms of the security agencies have been cooperative.

"One of the outcome of the security meetings in the state led to the decision of government to ensure proper documentation of every motorcycle that operate in the state as there have been reports that their operations are becoming a threat to the peace of the state.

"Hence the decision of government to order that the activities of the Commercial motorcycle operators in the state be regularised to ensure proper monitoring and prevent any security breach that could arise from their operation"

According to the Commissioner , all hands are on deck in the state to ensure that people continue to sleep with their two eyes closed.
