The Ondo state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has splashed cash Award ranging from N75,000 to N150, 000 to Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist athletes who made Ondo State proud at the 2012 National Sports Festival held in Lagos.
The 300 beneficiaries got their cheques at Award of Excellence on Sports for Ondo State athletes held at the International Event Center, The DOME in Akure.
Each Gold Medalist received N150,000 cheques, Silver Medalist, N100,000 and Bronze Medalist got N75,000, Coaches and teams were not left out in the largesee
Akina Kpiliboh who won several gold medals went home 750 thousand naira, Bode akintokun got 150 thousand while Peace ukoh smiled to the bank with 325 thousand naira.
Dr mimiko said his administration's investment in sports for youths empowerment was a deliberate effort by to raise the standard of sporting activiies and athletes in the state.
