Ondo State Government has said that the remaining 20 percent of the 2016 September salary arrears would be paid very soon to workers in the state.
Government also assured that the 2017 August salary arrears will be paid in full while civil servants will get due and regular promotion.
This was the fallout of a close door meeting of labour leaders and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu represented by his deputy, Hon Agboola Ajayi at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Akure.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Governor Akeredolu, said all issues raised were resolved amicably.
The Governor noted that his adminstration has made commitment to all its promises a priority.
His words” as regard promotion, every civil servant due for promotion will be promoted.
“Promotion is a legitimate right that the government cannot deny its workers.”
Speaking with journalists, the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) , Mrs. Bosede Daramola attested to the agreement reached between labour union under the auspices of NLC, Trade Union Congress (TUC) and government.
She said the state government has agreed to pay August salary in full as well balance the 2016 September salary arrears soonest.
Daramola said that the state government also assured workers, the payment of all outstanding salaries with another tranche of Paris Club refund in October
The State labour leader, however, appealed to all workers in the state to remain calm and allow government fulfil its promises.
On promotion of workers, Daramola explained that government has shown commitment to promote all those due before the end of this year.
