A chase launched by the police against a young man suspected to be a yahoo boy today led to an accident at Ireakari junction along Akure/Ijare road.
Although no life was lost to the incident, the two vehicles involved were badly damaged.
Some policemen were said to have sited a young man whose name was not known as at press time driving a Toyota Corolla car around Bovas petrol station along Akure/Ijare road and gave him a hot chase.
According to eye witness, the police men threw caution to the wind by pointing gun to the young man on motion on the suspicion that he must be one of the yahoo boys not knowing that the car belongs to his mother.
Frightened by this development, the young man who was said to be one his teen sped off but lost control and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Another eye witness alleged that instead of sympathizing with the accident victims, they dragged their target out of the car and bundled him to an unknown destination.
The action caused gridlock on the busy raid for hours as sympathizers blamed the police for the ugly incident.
Police were later drafted to the scene to control traffic but little could be done to appease the embittered sympathizers who described the police action as evil
When contacted on phone as at press time, the Ondo state police public relations officer, Femi Joseph said he was yet to be briefed about the event as at press time.
