The Ondo state government has donated medical equipment to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo in furtherance of its effort to curtailing and preventing the outbreak of lassa fever to a standstill.
Donating the equipment on behalf of the state government, Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr Francis Akanbiemu said gesture was on the order of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
He pledged the commitment of government to continually support FMC, Owo with necessary logistics needed to hurt the outbreak of lassa in the state.
In a remark, the state commissioner for health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro praised the centre and other stakeholders for their roles in stemming the tide of lassa fever in the state which he said claimed some lives.
According to him, "the state government did all humanly possible to see that the epidermic was fought to a standstill through the supply if logistics to FMC, active surveillance which received accolades from federal government, commencement of the infectious disease hospital at igbatoro road in the state capital".
It would be recalled that lassa fever recently broke out in the state and claimed some lives.
