Ondo State government has assured pensioners on its payroll of payment of their outstanding pension and gratuity after payment of workers' salary this week.
Government in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kayode Akinmade on Tuesday said it acknowledged that the Pensioners are being owed outstanding arrears
He however hinged the inability to pay on the dwindling revenue from the Federation account as well as low internally generated revenue.
Remarking that it appreciates the role of the pensioners in building a virile state through their contributions while in active service, government mentioned that it owed its pensioners the obligation to pay them their pension as and when due.
Government thus assured the pensioners to expect payment of their arrears after salaries of workers in the state will have been paid later in the week.
