The Ondo state government has named King Sunny Ade, and some Nollywood stars as the state's cultural ambassadors. It was indeed a night of cultural display as the award winning cultural troupe of the state thrilled the guests. The international event center in Akure, known as The Dome, venue of the occasion was filled to capacity with eminent personalities. The roll call include the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, his deputy Alhaji Abdulazeez Oluboyo, Members of the state executive council and other top government functionaries. Indigenes who have excelled in their career were unveiled as the state Cultural Ambassadors. They are; King Sunny Ade, Bimbo Oshin, Jibola Dabo, Omotola Jolade Ekeinde,Yemi Black, Aralola, Mo Abudu and Funsho Adeolu. Addressing the forum, governor Olusegun Mimiko congratulated the Ambassadors for the feat and charged them to continue to place the development of the state in their hearts. While urging them to influence more development to the state, Dr Mimiko said in the face of the economic crunch government could not but diversify the state economy and embrace creativity. He maintained that his administration would leverage on the state potentials in the tourism and agricultural sectors to create wealth for the people. The governor said by next month, the state will clock forty and his administration will mark 7th anniversary. He informed the gathering that a lot of life transforming projects had been lined up for commissioning to mark the epoch events and urged the ambassadors to fully participate in the events. The commissioner for special duty, culture and tourism, Mr Femi Adekanbi said the event was to honour the indigenes and spur them to contribute more to the state. The occasion featured a lecture  on " repositioning culture and tourism as alternative to oil in Ondo state" delivered by Professor Kole Omotoso.
