The Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has lent a helping hand to the Akungba Police Division with the donation of some office equipment.
The donated items were a LaserJet printer and a digital photocopier.
The equipment were handed over to the Division Police Officer, Akungba Akoko Police Division, Mr. Olajide Samuel, by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, on Thursday last week on campus.
In his remark, Prof. Ajibefun said the gesture, which was a quick response to the request of the Division, was to further acknowledge the critical role being played by the police in sustaining the peace and tranquillity within and outside the University community.
He said, “I commend the sustained efforts of the Nigeria Police Division in Akungba in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere both on campus and in the host community.
“The Institution has procured these equipment as part of its corporate social responsibility despite the state of the country’s economy with the hope that they will enhance the security of lives and property both on and off campus. We are quite aware that the state government cannot fund every demand of the Nigeria Police. That is why we have come up as a body to contribute our quota.
Prof. Ajibefun expressed the hope that the development would strengthen the relationship between the University and the police.
Responding, SP Olajide Samuel appreciated what he called the good gesture of the University for the prompt answers to the requests placed before it.
He said, “The entire Nigeria Police Division, Akungba Akoko, is highly indebted to the Management for its prompt answers to the requests of the Police Division. We are very happy.
“I am also assuring you that we will make good use of these equipment. We also look forward to sustaining the good relationship with the institution.”
