Akeredolu flags off Africa's largest egg processing plant in Ondo

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has flagged off the largest egg processing plant  in Africa. 

The ground breaking ceremony of the egg plant at Emure Ile in Owo Local Government Area of the state attracted the Governor of central bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele among others. 

Nigeria produces 10.3 billion eggs annually, which makes the country the largest producer of eggs in Africa.

Nigerians spend between 600 billion to 700 billion naira on smuggled chicken.

Eradication of imported poultry products in Nigeria will create one million jobs within two years, and bring hundreds of billions into the economy in revenue.

These reasons, no doubt gave birth to the multi billion naira mechanized poultry farm and powdered egg plant in Ondo State. 

The 42 billion naira facility has the capacity to process one million eggs per day, 10 million broilers per annum, powdered egg which could be stored for 18 months among others. 

Addressing the gathering, the visibly elated Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Said Ondo State is endowed with potentials noting that nothing would debar his administration from tapping them for the benefit of the people. 

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele applauded the Governor for creating enabling environment for business to thrive in the state. 

He noted that the project would drive economic growth, reduce unemployment and increase local production of agricultural produce.

Leaders of Emure Ile community thank government for the gesture saying it would turn around futures of the people. 

The multi billion naira egg progressing plant which is public private partnership initiative is expected to take off within the next one year.
