
Imade College, Owo has won the 2018 ‘Be Your Best’ Quiz Competition organized by the managing director of Micmakin Nigeria Limited, Mr Olayato Aribo for the 18 public secondary schools in Owo local government area of ondo state.
The school defeated four other schools: St Louis Girls Grammar School, Amuye CAC Grammar School and Owo High School which made it through to the final stage out of the 18 schools that participated in the preliminary stage.
The competition held at Imade College Hall featured mathematics, English language, Biology, Physics, Government and Current affairs.
Announcing the results, Coordinator of the programme, Mr Olatunde Akadiri said Imade College scored 26 points, St Louis Girls Grammar 24 points, Amuye CAC Grammar School secured 18 points and Owo High School settled for 14 points.
In his remark, the Chairman on the occasion and caretaker chairman of Owo local government, Hon. Gani Omoluka represented by the supervisor for works, Samuel Balogun hailed Mr Aribo for the initiative noting that the program would go a long way in encouraging the students to strive for excellence.
Sponsor of the competition, Mr Olayato Aribo said the initiative was conceived a year ago and the maiden edition was organized for public secondary schools in Ose local government area.
Mr Aribo who is the Managing Director of Micmakin Nigeria limited, maker of oyato bread ruled out any political motive for the program but said it was "to add value to human development and education which he said was the bedrock of any society".
According to him, "We expect that our solemn efforts will bring the best out of the students with much expectations to produce leaders for our immediate communities and the nation at large.
“There is no doubt that education is the bedrock of any socioeconomic development in any nation. Hence there is the need for individuals, PTA, and government to engage productive partnership in the educational development of our youths. This is a more enduring legacy alongside infrastructural development."
He therefore promised to sustain the program as part of his continuous support for the growth of education.
“We shall continue to make our meaningful contributions to humanity”, he said.
While telling the students about his humble beginning and how God helped him to make it in life, Mr Aribo challenged the young ones to know God, believe in themselves and be determined to make it in life.
Prizes were given to the winners as Chukwuma Perpetual from St Louis Girls Grammar School, said though her school came second, the event would push her to study more. Other participants also shared her view.
Imade College and St Louis Girls Grammar will now face winners of the competition from Ose local government.
The event also featured a film show titled, ‘Gifted Hands’ a documentary on the life of the world renowned Neurosurgeon, Ben Carson which was to encourage the students to be determined in making a difference.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, APC chieftains in the local government and stakeholders.
