Beating of drum forbidden in Akure as Deji proceeds on traditional leave

PRESS RELEASE ON THE SEVEN DAYS ANNUAL ILEFUNTA FESTIVAL OF OBA ALADETOYINBO OGUNLADE ALADELUSI (ODUNDUN II)

I write to formally inform men of the press and the general public of the annual Ilefunta festival which will also serve as a leave period for His Royal Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II.

The leave is observed annually as part of the traditional rite of His Majesty during which he does not receive visitors or attend functions.
In view of this, it is imperative to inform the general public that beating of drum under any guise during this period will not be allowed within Akure metropolis.

The annual leave will begin on Thursday 15th September and end on Wednesday 21st September, 2016.

All road users along the Post office road leading to the Deji’s Palace are advised to use alternative and adjoining route during this period.
All residents are enjoined to comply with this directive as they go about carrying out their lawful activities.
