Police launch investigation into Ondo Governor's security aid killing


The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of  the state governor's convoy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Idowu Oyewole, by suspected armed robbers.
Confirming the death of the officer to Radio Nigeria, the command's Police Public Relation Officer,(PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, said the force had commenced an investigation into the incident, to bring those behind the killing to book.
Mr Joseph described late DSP Oyewole as disciplined and hard working officer.
The armed robbers on Wednesday night,reportedly invaded Sango community, along Akure/Ado Ekiti road in Akure, and shot the deceased during the operation.
Speaking on the death of his father, one of his sons, Dare Oyewole, explained that his father had retired home and was eating when one of the neighbour’s son rushed to their residence to inform his father about the invasion of the armed men in their residence.
According to him, the deceased took his service pistol and followed the boy to confront the armed robbers, but the hoodlums noted his father’s movement and opened fire on him immediately they saw him.
